LIKES
Money She owns a beauty shop for a reason. She also sells drugs for a reason. Here's a hint, it's not for the thrill of it.
Business Whether it's in her shop, or a truce with the other local gang; it's all good business.
Pay Per View The UFC fights are the best thing in the world in Mama's eyes.
Gossip Being a hairdresser, Mama knows all the gossip, from small elderly lady feuds to "she fucked my boyfriend." Mama thrives off of it.
Booze Most people like to have their alcohol every once and a while. Mama isn't one of those people. You will never see her without her vodka bottle.
Women Yeah, you read right. Mama's a lesbian.

DISLIKES
Earrings They weigh down your ears, and you have to take them off when you fight. What's the point of them.
Movie Theatres She's fidgety, and hates sitting down for more than a few minutes.
Wellpint She's been here her whole life. Born and raised in the city, looked down on by the wealthy suburban kids.
Homophobes Being a lesbian, Mama gets a lot of awkward glances. She's not exactly a closet case, though.
Getting Caught Whether she's caught selling drugs, running a gang, or gambling in cards on the street; Mama hates the disapproval.
Cheap People Running two businesses, Mama believes that people who cant pay should get the fuck out.
[/ul]
FEARS
Fire As a young child, Mama's house was burned down, and everything in it perished, except her family. They had to build back up from nothing, and ever since, she hasn't been able to deal with the idea of something burning.
[/ul]
QUIRKS
Cant fall asleep without the television on. It's part of her loneliness. Not that there aren't nearly 15 kids living in her house, but she needs the companionship when she's sleeping.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Arlene Maxwell was born in the sixties, when everything was sex, drugs, and rock and roll. She grew up with two 'afrocentric' hippies, her parents Jim Maxwell and Lucille Walters. They were all about black power and sticking it to the man back then. Everyone in Wellpint was like that. Unfortunately, the small upstate New York town didn't impact anything. Small towns never did.
Arlene's parents were far from strict. She didn't have a cerfew like most of the kids in her neighborhood. This gave Arlene a natural advantage over the other kids. When they ran home as the street lights turned on, little Arlene Maxwell would wander around the city, learning every street, every alleyway. By the time Arlene was in high school, she could get home in roughly ten minutes, though her house was halfway across town. She knew the right ways to go. Then, there was the fire. When Arlene was fifteen, she came home to thick black smoke on her street. There were firemen everywhere, running through the house and taking everything they could carry out of there. They managed to get her parents and dog out, but that was basically everything that wasn't already destroyed. After that, Arlene was nearly in a state of shock.
Later in her high school years, Arlene picked up the nickname Mama Maxwell, which later turned to Mama Millionaire. She gained the nickname from her first boyfriend Peter Yzouwitz, who was at the time, a Russian exchange student. He said that the name Mama fit her better. Arlene was too formal for a wild child like her. After graduation, Mama thought she would have lost Peter forever. He was supposed to go back home at the end of her senior year, but to her suprise, he said he loved her too much to go back home. He wanted to stay in upstate New York with a girl he had only known a year. Sounds too good to be true? Well, it was.
After Mama and Peter's wedding, she decided to open Mama's Hair and nails. She had a thing with wanting to make people beautiful, even if they weren't. She saw the good in everyone, and wanted them to see the good in themselves. Peter was fine with it, as long as he could also run his business, and unlike a normal wife, she didn't ask him what his business was. She later found out that Peter was dealing drugs in the back of her beauty salon. But, again, unlike a normal wife, she didn't freak out. Her father always told her "Once you find a good man, keep him. If he can support you, it doesn't matter what he does to get there. The end justifies the means." And she believed exactly that.
A little over a year into their marriage, Tyson Yzouwitz was born. He was the apple of both parents eyes, and yet, he was less perfect that they made him out to be. In all reality, he was violent, and angry, and needed attention more than anyone else. He was self centered and possibly a bit psychotic. Neither parent saw this though, and they let him grow up thinking he was perfectly normal. But at sixteen, he fled home and ran to the army, seeing no other way out. Later that month, Tyson was reported dead. Mama couldn't stop herself from crying. She didn't leave the house for months, and just stared at the folded flag the general had brought to her doorstep. It seemed as though every day was rainy after that.
A little less than a year later, Peter left. He didn't say a word, but just packed his stuff in silence. When Mama begged him to stay, he kissed her forehead and stated, in that perfect accent of his, "You're never happy anymore. And me being here won't change anything." And with that, he was gone. Mama seemed as though she had lost everything, and in retrospect, she kind of did. It wasn't exactly like she had anything to live for. Both of the things she ever loved were gone, and by their own personal choice.
Mama put up walls after that. She believed that if she let anyone close enough, all they would do was leave. She took down all evidence of her past family, throwing it all into a box, and burning it outside of the beauty shop. She distanced herself from everyone, until she found the child that was sleeping in the park. He said he had no family, and that he didn't need one. He was like a stray puppy, looking starved and sad. She offered him shelter, and he declined it. She offered him food, and he declined it. But while she walked home, he followed. And when she left the door open for him to come in, he followed. He watched as she made dinner that night, and then ate his plate quietly when she placed it in front of him. Then he spoke, asking her who she was. "Mama Max." Was her only response.
